Where is The Festival being held?

The Heart of Gold International Film Festival will be held at:
The Gympie Civic Centre
Mellor St
Gympie.

Why can I only enter through Withoutabox?

Heart of Gold International Film Festival has elected to accept submissions ONLY through Withoutabox. The reason we are doing this is because of the brilliant BACK OFFICE they offer to festivals. It makes it much easier for us to track entries and run our festival in a professional manner. It will only cost you some time. WAB charges no fees for the filmmaker so all you have to pay is the OGIFF entrance fees. In the long run using Withoutabox makes submitting to festivals a breeze, and so well worth the time invested.

How much does it cost to enter?

Earlybird March 10 US $25 Withoutabox Discount $20

Regular May 20 US $35 Withoutabox Discount $30

Late June 15 US $40 Withoutabox Discount $35

WAB Extended Deadline June 30 US $60 Withoutabox Discount $45

A Tip

It is recommended you put your dvds in an amray case (2 cases since you are sending two aren't you!?) as they are less fragile and more likely to survive the long distance postage. Also they are MUCH easier to find when you go to look for one on a shelf....us being able to find the film may help its chances of selection!!

What is the selection process?

Heart of Gold screens films in small groups (15 - 25 people) with a large screen. There will be a few of these groups going and each person in the group will complete a feedback sheet about each film. Top scoring films across the group go on for further consideration. This helped us assure audience satisfaction as the films had already had a small audience watch them.

Will I be notified of rejection?

It is our intention to notify every filmmaker of their status. ... that being said, mistakes CAN happen!

If selected, what can I expect?

A festival that will do its best to make your screening experience wonderful. We are very filmmaker friendly. You will be in the running for great cash prizes and other awards.

If you attend the festival we will try to make it a warm, fun and positive time for you. The group of filmmakers who attended last year had a ball. You can read about it on the withoutabox message boards.

Out of Competition

At present we have a shorts and short doc only competition. However we do screen a few features and last year screened about 30 shorts we loved that did not fit our time or date criteria... these were entered in the OUT OF COMPETITION category.

Where are you holding the festival?

The Gympie Civic Centre is the primary venue. ...and it is just a short walk into the main street shopping area and was renovated just prior to the 2006 festival. It has a 400 seat theatre, two function rooms, a great bar and kitchen. We have hired the whole venue.
