GYMPIE

Home of Heart of Gold for 10 years, Gympie is a regional city with a big heart. The picturesque, historic, rural town in the Sunshine Coast hinterland is surrounded by beautiful countryside and filled with friendly faces who love to celebrate all that short film has to offer. Just two hours drive north from Brisbane and a small jaunt inland from Noosa, Gympie is nestled amongst rolling hills with the Mary River flowing through it. It is home to wonderful wineries and produce, historic gold-mine tours and one of Australia's largest and most successful music festivals, the Gympie Music Muster.

2017 marks 150 years since gold was discovered in the Gympie region and will be a year of celebration for the town and the festival.

ANNIVERSARY OF DISCOVERY

To celebrate 150 years since gold was first discovered in Gympie, we're going with a 'Discovery' theme. We want to focus on films that shine a light on sidelined topics, peoples, or regions of the world.
