If you have a film script and are looking to develop it into a film project there are several organisations you should research and then talk to about the best way to develop and finance your project. But before you contact them, do your self a favour and read through the websites, find out what they are looking to do, what they have funded in the past and are looking to fund (ie: scripts, drafts, productions?).
Then carefully consider what it is you have to develop. Show your work to some people in the industry and get some feedback about how it works, what format it is and what length it really is; remember you are writing to be seen, so you will have to get used to criticism quickly the best advice is to just take it as part of the process; everyone gets its, some use it.
The first is Screen Australia http://www.screenaustralia.gov.au/
For Queensland film makers contact Screen Queensland as well http://www.screenqueensland.com.au/
For non Australian film makers please know that both organisations and most of the state organisations have incentives for overseas productions to film in the country so if you plan to shoot here, have a look.

6 DAYS LEFT TO ENTER: AESTHETICA SHORT FILM FESTIVAL
The Festival closes for entries this Tuesday so there are just 6 days left for filmmakers to submit their work.
As long as the films are entered by 31st May, we are happy to accept DVDs for up to two weeks after the deadline. We’re also happy to receive films of any production date so if your filmmakers do have older works they wish to submit that’s fine!
It’s a great opportunity to get wider exposure for your work and a longlist of selected entrants will be screened at the citywide ASFF in York, UK in November. There will be additional prizes for the winner and runner-up, and a shortlist of finalists will be included on the Aesthetica Shorts DVD, which will be distributed internationally with the December 2011 issue of the Aesthetica Magazine.
The winning film also receives:
• £500 prize (GBP)
• Screenings at film festivals across the UK, including Rushes Soho Shorts (London), Glasgow Film Festival (Glasgow) and Branchage (Jersey)
• A weekend filmmaking course, courtesy of Raindance
• 12 months membership to Shooting People, the international film network
• Inclusion on a DVD that will be distributed to all Aesthetica readers (60,000 viewers)
The runner-up will also receive £250 (GBP) as well as DVD publication.
Films should be no longer than 25 minutes but can be any genre including artists’ film, music videos, dance films, horror and comedy or anything you can think of!
Deadline 31 May 2011.
