We’re thrilled to announce the dates of the 2024 Heart of Gold International Short Film Festival!
Join us on September 28th and 29th at the University of the Sunshine Coast’s Gympie Campus, for a festival of amazing short films, industry talks and so much more! September 30th will then host our very special School Excursion Day.
We’re very excited to share with you more news and announcements about this year’s festival and everything else we have planned for this incredible community. With a new venue, fresh faces and some other surprises in store for you, 2024 is the start of a new chapter for Heart of Gold — and we couldn't wish for a better audience to share it with.

OPEN COMPETITION FILM SUBMISSIONS
Every year we play over 100+ films at the Heart of Gold flagship festival, and a selection will go on tour playing at other events across Queensland. To have your film considered for selection, enter it via FilmFreeway using the button below.
All films play in competition for a range of prizes, including Best International Film, Best Australian Film, Best Student Film, Most Inspiring Film, and many more craft prizes.
Films must be under 28 minutes and appropriate to the Heart of Gold ethos.

YOUNG FILMMAKERS COMPETITION SUBMISSIONS
Under 17s or school students living in Australia can submit to the Young Filmmakers Competition!
Inspire your film students to enter for a chance to have their film screened at our festival. All entries must be 3 - 15 minutes long and are to be submitted into the ‘Short Films - Australian Filmmakers Under 17’ category on Film Freeway. Cash prizes are available.
