ABOUT THE EXCURSION
Heart of Gold is Australia’s biggest regional short film festival we are so excited to welcome schools to our Festival in 2026.
A brand new venue and much more on offer means a meaningful and interesting experience for students.
DATE: Friday 18th September 2026
VENUE: Gympie Senior Citizens Centre, 40 Mellor St Gympie Qld
COST: $15 per student and teachers are free.
PROGRAM (subject to change):
9:45am | Schools arrive
10:00 | Heart of Gold Film Festival team - what goes into programming a film festival? How can young people interested in a career in film be part of the Festival? 15mins
10.15am | screening of The Moths Will Eat Them Up and talk with Director Tanya Modini (45 mins)
11am | changeover/break (15 mins)
11.15am | SESSION 1 - group A (Heart of Gold Film Session), group B (Essential Screen Skills hot set) (60 mins)
12.15pm | lunch (30 mins)
12.45pm | SESSION 2 - group A (Essential Screen Skills hot set), group B (Heart of Gold Film Session) (60 mins)
1.45pm | regroup, close and thanks (15 mins)
2:00pm | Close
Students will have to bring their own lunch, limited purchase options available.
