ABOUT THE EXCURSION

Heart of Gold is Australia’s biggest regional short film festival we are so excited to welcome back schools to our Festival in 2025.

A brand new venue and much more on offer means a meaningful and interesting experience for students.

DATE: Friday 10th October 2025

VENUE: Gympie Cinema, Monkland St Gympie Qld

COST: $15 per student and teachers are free.

PROGRAM (subject to change):

• 9:15am | Schools arrive

• 9:30 | Heart of Gold Film Festival team - what goes into programming a film festival? Get the inside scoop on what shapes the Heart of Gold Film Festival and tips for making your future entries standout!

• 30mins (20mins content and 10min Q&A)

• 10:00 | Session 1 + Q&A with a filmmaker 

• 90min (1 hour screenings, 30min with a filmmaker)

• 11:30 | Lunch with interactive "hot set" where students can do a piece to camera/take photos with a set up of professional equipment for students to play with.

• 12:30 | Session 2 + Q&A with a filmmaker 

• 90min (1 hour screenings, 30min with a filmmaker)

• 2:00pm | Close

Students will have to bring their own lunch, limited purchase options available.
